Originally an existing GI Lab, this space was repurposed to a new radiation oncology facility. Work began with one linear accelerator vault, HDR vault, and CT simulator, but was planned from the beginning to accommodate future unknown expansions. As such the first phase and its single vault assumed a sculptural concept with dancing brick walls softening the concrete vault appearance and allowing a constant aesthetic with future vault additions to occur at the campus entrance. Phase two allowed for the addition of two new linear accelerators. Phase three added a new gamma knife suite, new exam rooms, and reorganized some administrative spaces. While it was not known when, if or what the future expansions would be, it was always assumed that they would occur. Modality placement and careful consideration to the clinical circulation allowed for easy incorporation of each phase into one cohesive plan.
